FROM PLANT ANOTHER CHURCH . COM
=======================================

Berean School of Ministry

Ministerial Training School for Church Planters

SCHOOLYEAR 2009-2010 DATES:
Application and Qualifying May 5- June 30, 2009
English Measurement Test, Interview & Registration July 1-3, 2009
Classes Start July 7, 2009

THE SHORT TERM SCHOOL FOR YOUR LONG TERM VISION!

Our Reason for Being:

It is because of our commitment to church planting and missions that Berean School of Ministry was started in 1986. We motivate, train and mobilize leaders. We are training the church for the great commission. We are majoring in church planting, because that's what Jesus is doing ever since, that's what the Holy Spirit empowerment is for, and that's the reason the church is still on earth! We know how to do it and we have results. We will continue to exist as long as the Lord of the Harvest calls for more laborers.
Description:

It is a TRAINING school. The mentoring system is used to disciple individual students, providing direct contact and consultancy. We provide not just classroom learning but also a variety of opportunities for pratice to develop competencies in ministry skills.
It is a SHORT-TERM school. We seek to facilitate fast but maximum learning within the time allotted for each course. We employ teaching-learning principles, teaching by objectives, and maximum student participation. It is well known that a short-term school can preserve your initial zeal and vision for ministry and missions better than a long-term school.
It is a CHURCH school. The natural setting of the ministry training is the local church. Students adopt the FARM church as an integral part of their one-year training exposure. We see this as a major determining factor in the dynamics of our training program. We seek to discern God's current move in the Church and make constant adjustment to be in step with God's Spirit.
It is a PIONEERS' school. We aim to train those who will be able to start and pastor a local church. The Church Planting subjects are taught from fruitful experiences in church planting since 1986. Sending is part of our philosophy. We train and facilitate the sending of our graduates.
It is a TRAINORS' school. We train students with the view that they will train others also. The lessons were prepared to be transferable even in a local church setting. Every course has a well-written set of handouts in expanded outline form.
It is a MISSIONS-ORIENTED school. Motivating students for missions and missionary work is a major and an integral part of the training program. We seek to provide students the basic knowledge and preparation for missionary work. We can vouch for our graduates as they go to the field as missionaries.
The kind of training we give is described in these five M's:

MORALS - we believe that the minister, above all, needs more than just academic qualifications. He needs the spiritual character development to qualify in the ministry.
MESSAGE - we believe that the minister must have a full-gospel information needed to communicate `the whole counsel of God'. We give effort in assisting students develop productive learning habits and diligence in the study of the Bible. We emphasize the principle of learning spiritual truths by the help of the Holy Spirit and faithfulness to the Word of God as the absolute measure for our and practices.
METHODS - we believe in learning the principles and strategies of ministry that can yield God's expected results. The practical methods we learn in evangelism, missions, discipling and other church ministerial responsibilities are derived from Scriptures and valuable experiences of proven ministries and ministers.
MOTIVATION - we believe that God provides the motivation that makes the minister powerful, faithful and victorious servant of God. We learn a God-centered approach to ministry that designates God as the foundation and reason for being and thee Holy Spirit who gives direction and propulsion in ministry.
MISSIONS - we believe that God wants us to do the work He gives to us in the Body of Jesus Christ and in the world. We are Fishers of Men. He helps us discover our portion in the work of God, enables us to do it, and gives us success. We believe we are fellow-workers with Him.

Missionary Monthly Update Report
Balikpapan, Eastern Kalimantan, Indonesia
August 2009

“Therefore go & make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father & of the Son & of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.” – Matt. 28: 19- 20

PRAISE REPORT:
 Praise be to God! We already moved to our new house here in Balikpapan. It’s more convenient to us this time because it’s near from our school. God made it possible.
 Bethany Church has invited me to lead the worship time just for one Sunday this month. This small congregation is composed of mostly expatriates. That’s why they call it “Bethany English Service” and God is awesome and glorious! He moved in a very special and powerful way we had never expected before. Pray with me that everyone will live a life of worship knowing what true worship is.
 One of my Co-Teachers gave me a cellular phone that I can use also in International call. And just last week, another lady from Bethany Church promised me to expect another mobile phone from her. See how favored we are in the Lord!!!
 I also praise God for the good health, wisdom and strength everyday here in Balikpapan.

WHAT’S UP W/ HERE NOW:
 Flipinos are blessed with multi-lingual abilities. We can see that happening all around the world wherever we go. I started my Language Learning Self-Study Program this month and I am in “mimicry and listening” period. I take every opportunity to listen and mimic how the locals speak here in Balikpapan wherever I go. I just knew from one Filipino friend here that there are 3,500 Filipino words we use in the Philippines with the same meaning in Bahasa- Indo. Pray for me as I continue.
 Our school has just opened the International Curriculum for Senior High School and since I am a Commerce graduate, I will be teaching Economics and Business Studies as well.
 I informed some of you about my Australian friend who went here in Balikpapan a week after I got here to be an English Teacher w/ a heart in the Harvest field also but unfortunately she was sick for two weeks and finally decided to go back to Australia.
 Due to our location here in Balikpapan, we have a very poor connection w/ the Internet. And we have to look for higher areas with good signal. Now since I’m using Internet only at school, I am having a hard time using the Internet from time to time. I am praying and hoping for somebody who could help me use computer with good connection and signal.

PRAYER POINTS
 Please pray for alertness of mind, patience & wisdom as I continue learning Bahasa- Indo.
 Pray that I will just be sensitive all the time to God’s leading as I take time listening and seeking His heart for what He has already prepared for me here in Indonesia. Pray for courage and strength as I face challenges everyday.
 Pray for my family back home.

I am more than blessed to be a channel of blessing to the place my God has taken me and I praise God that I am advancing His kingdom with you…my partner in this vision. I speak blessing to you that God may richly bless you and your family in Christ Jesus.

Shalom!
In spite of the rain some of our brethren really come to join our thanksgiving celebration last Sunday. Though only few really showed up yet we have a wonderful thanksgiving celebration. Maybe the Pacquiao fever is also one of the reason why some of the brethren especially men was not able to come. It’s really good and inspiring to see people who lived on the negative 5 of the poverty level, people who do not even know yet where to find the food they’re going to eat for the next day, yet they are happy, rejoicing and praising God; declaring that God is indeed good all the time. For me, this actuations are the embodiment of Philippians 4: 4 and 1Thessalonians 5:18. But due to the very low turn out of attendance, we have decided to extend our thanksgiving celebration especially on the area of “giving our best” to the Lord till December 21, 2008. All envelopes will be return on December 21, 2008.

Complete detailed annual report and plans for Inayauan and Kabankalan ministry for 2009 will be submitted December 21, 2008.

Bad Time are Good for Missions
(by John Piper)

I believe the Lord brought this word to mind in one of our prayer meetings on Friday: The worst of all times is the best of all times for missions. We were praying over Lamentations 3. Those were the worst of times for Israel. But in that moment they were given the best of promises, "The steadfast love of the Lord never ceases; his mercies never come to an end; they are new every morning; great is your faithfulness, (3:22-23)." The worst of all times is the best of all times for missions. Such words do not have intrinsic authority the way Scripture does. They must be tested. Here is the truth I hear in those words.
1. During an economic downturn we are more dependent on God. That is the most fertile soil for creating missionaries.
2. During an economic downturn unreached people around the world do not expect you to come, but to look out for yourself. So they may more likely see your risk as love rather than exploitation.
3. During an economic downturn those who need Christ around the world may be less secure in earthly things and more ready to hear about eternal life.
4. During an economic downturn people at home may be wakened to the brevity of life and the fragility of material things, and so may become more generous not less. And when they give under these circumstances, it will make Christ look all the more like the all-satisfying Treasure that he is. And so it may well prove to be that the worst of all times is the best of all times for missions.

Seven questions to ask every ministry leader
in our CONTEXT -- every church pastor ... please facilitate in writing :-)
by Rick Warren
=====================================
We have a lot of haphazard ministry being done in our churches around the world. Good people, who love the Lord, aren’t thinking through what God has called them to do. Ministry is too important to be done haphazardly. We can’t just say, “I’ll give it my best shot!” We need to think through what the ministries in our church are all about. Our ministries must be good stewards of all they’ve been given. For that to happen, we’ve got to plan ministry strategically.

There are seven important questions that need to be answered when you’re planning an effective ministry. These are questions for any healthy ministry – whether it’s your music ministry, greeters, small group leaders, or any other ministry team.

1. Why are you here?

Every ministry in your church should have a clear idea of what it’s all about. Each one needs a purpose statement. You develop that statement by asking two questions: What is the business of this ministry? And what is none of this ministry’s business?

What’s the business of Saddleback? We attract members, teach them to worship God, develop them to Christlike maturity, and mobilize them for ministry in the church and a life mission in the world. We do that in each stage and segment of their lives. If something doesn’t fit within that mission statement, we don’t do it.

Every ministry within your church needs a purpose statement like that. Ask each ministry: What do you do and what do you not do?

2. What purpose of the church does your ministry fulfill?

Every ministry in your church should be tied to at least one of the five purposes of the church. Is this ministry designed to exalt Christ (worship)? Is it designed to reach out to the community (evangelism)? Is it designed to deepen relationships within the church (fellowship)? Is it designed to build people into Christian maturity (discipleship)? Is it designed to serve the needs of the church family (ministry)?

As a pastor, you need to make sure that each of your ministries does one of these five things. If it doesn’t, your church doesn’t need to be doing it.

3. Who are you trying to reach?

You need to figure out who your ministry is trying to reach – the Community, the Crowd, the Congregation, the Committed, the Core, or the Commissioned. Ministries trying to reach the Community are evangelistic in nature. Ministries that serve those during weekend services are focused on the Crowd. Ministries focused on church members will work with the Congregation. Ministries that help people grow spiritually will center on the Committed. Ministries that meet the needs of people within the church or try to get people involved in the ministry of the church will focus on the Core. And the ministries that help those who’ve committed to be involved in missions (the P.E.A.C.E. Plan for us at Saddleback) will need to focus on the Commissioned. (For a further explanation of these audiences, see my article from the last issue.)

You need to know who your ministry is trying to reach. The Community has different needs than the Committed. The Congregation has different needs than the Core. Knowing who your ministry is trying to serve will influence how the ministry operates.

4. Where do you believe God is calling your ministry to be in six months?

This is the stage where your ministry leaders dream. Where would they like to see the ministry six months from now? If your ministry leaders can’t think about the future, they aren’t ready to lead the ministry. Ask your ministry leaders to get away with God and talk to him about the ministry’s future.

5. How does your ministry do what it has been called to do?

Did you know that your body has nine systems in it? When any one of those systems gets out of order, it’s called an illness or disease. The church (the body of Christ) has systems in it as well. And for us to be healthy our systems have to work properly. How do your ministries do what they’ve been called to do? Ask your ministry leaders to think and pray about how to do ministry more effectively.

6. Who can you partner with to do what God has called you to do?

Your ministry leaders need to constantly be on the watch for people who can join them in ministry. Ask your ministry leaders to begin praying for at least one person who should be joining their ministry team.

Jesus said, “The harvest is plentiful but the laborers are few. Pray for laborers.” Ask your ministry leaders to begin praying for more laborers.

7. In what way do you serve people?
Your ministries should serve the people in your community. Are you meeting physical, emotional, mental, or spiritual needs (or a combination thereof)? All of those needs are valid. Part of understanding the identity of your ministries is to know how each of them serves people. Then look for ways you can add value to the services those ministries provide. In other words, look for ways each of your ministries can do a better job providing for the physical, emotional, mental, or spiritual needs of the community.

One Call to PRAY before Foundation Day 2008
2008: One Call

This is an exciting 2008. This year will also set the course of our life as a church for the next 2 years before we reach the end of 2010.
Before we start to do anything big for our 15th Foundation Day at His Life [Feb 17], it would be wise to listen to the One who will give us instructions on how to do it and go for it — God!
Let’s spend time with Him. Let’s hear and obey the Lord together.

This little booklet [get your booklet guide this SUNDAY] serves as a tool for every His Life Ministries member together with our regular goers at church to join this 3-Dayhumiliation, prayer and fasting event come February 5, 6, and 7.

Let this be the time of the year when we can corporately consecrate ourselves, families, ministries and small groups to God. Let’s believe God to step into every area of our lives in ways beyond what any of us can imagine. Let's believe God for power, purity and praise to be the result of this. All for the sake of the Lord Jesus Christ who purchased us by his blood at Calvary.

Great men and women throughout history has been called by God to humble themselves through fasting and prayer. Fasting is a spiritual weapon God uses to advance His kingdom, change the destiny of nations, spark revival, and bring victory in people's lives.

Let’s begin to Pray and Fast believing ...

Believe this is the RIGHT thing to do. Believe you CAN do it. Believe GOD is leading you. Be found reading your BIBLE and PRAYING.
